Lake Hidalgo gets its name from the Catholic priest whose writings
fanned the flames of the Mexican Revolution which started in 1910.
A picturesque statue of Miguel Hidalgo Costillas stands guard over
the Hidalgo dam.
To the west of Padre Hidalgo, stands a great statue of the Mayan
Rain God, Tlalo. A short walk up the steps reveals very ornate and
intricate designs. Tlalo provides a wonderful place for watching
sunsets, and panoramic views of Lake Hidalgo, the Rio Fuerte, and
the surrounding countryside with the foothills of the Sierra Madres
in the background.
A perfect location for taking pictures and enjoying the scenery.
Tour Cost: $15 US/per person (minimum
